ceramic cliché plates are made of solid ceramic and are often used when a particularly long service life of the cliché is required and only the lowest possible abrasion can be tolerated.

Engraving is carried out exclusively by laser. Due to the significantly greater engraving depth made possible by lasers, other media such as adhesives or media with very large pigments can also be transferred in addition to ink.

The ceramic cliché is also preferable for abrasive transfer media.
